We Only Live Twice - Find an excerpt that was published on Words Without Borders. It was one of my dreams to have one of my translations featured in WWB and I am so pleased to share such a beautiful work of writing with the English speaking world.
La chair de l’araignée
This graphic novel really spoke to me on many levels and translating it only made me cherish it even more. Hitting many notes of a bleak artistic symphony: anorexia, homosexuality, transgender, body dysmorphia, being lonely and lost, finding a soul sibling that can only further your distress and spiraling… a light read!
Satanie
A graphic novel from the fabulous team of Vehlmann and Kerascoët, Satanie is about a young girl on the perilous search for her brother. Unique and visceral, Satanie creates its own mythology through Kerascoët’s artwork and Vehlmann’s clever Candide-like story knocked up to and eleven. This work has already been translated into English, but I am placing it on this list because it was the gateway to my interest in graphic novel translation.
